Adrian's Weekly NFL Wrapup

2006: Championship Weekend

Ok folks I know I'm a day late on this but I have two weeks in between games
so I need to make this last. Last weekend was an awesome weekend for
football, I finally got over the debacle of the Chargers game and was able
to settle in for the conference championships with a peaceful mind and soul.
Here is what I thought of the games.

Chicago Bears 39 New Orleans Saints 14

This was a fun game to watch till that safety on intentional grounding
changed the game. That run Reggie Bush had was outstanding and I saw that
all the time being a USC fan but was wondering when and if he could pull
those off in the pros, question answered. The pointing at Brian Urlacher
was not too cool though, as I get older I like seeing players be more humble
and taking great things in stride, best example LaDainian Tomlinson, nuff
said. The turning point in that game for me really was that safety on Drew
Brees, once that happened you could tell momentum shifted and the Bears
never let up after that. Rex-kwon-do still sucks he was 11/26 for 144 yards
and it pisses me off that a team can win with such a shitty QB. Bears D is
flat out sick dude, they dominate the field and pop the ball out all the
time, that is why the Bears win, a ala the 2000 Ravens and the 2002 Bucs or
whatever year that was. Bears have a legitimate shot at winning the bowl
but more on that next week.

Indianapolis Colts 38 New England Patriots 34

Oh man this game made me extremely happy for many reasons which I will
explain below. In the first half I was thinking oh man the run is on, the
Colts are going to get ran again but then the Colts turned a complete 180
and dominated the second half. Down 21-3 I'm thinking it's over and I
apologize to Colt fans and players for my doubt. That comeback was awesome
to watch live and I will probably remember it forever. Fun, exciting, fast
game. It was like watching a video game seriously. Ok why this game made
me happy 1) The Pats beat my Bolts, nuff said. 2) I'm sick and tired of
hearing about the Brady/Belichik invincibility, over rated, yes they have
won but obviously they have to come back down to earth now. 3) Manning is
one of the classiest guys (unlike his sister that plays in New York) in the
league and really deserves a shot at a title. 4) To see Reche Caldwell
play like his old self, Reche was a Charger for 4 years and played like
hell, his fumbles and dropped passes killed me when he was here, but then he
goes to NE and plays like an all-star, seeing him back in rare form made me
the happiest probably, if he catches those two drops the Pats probably win.
5) Tony Dungy, he is a great coach and great person. I was pissed when
Chucky won the SB with the Bucs cause he won with Dungy's team, seriously.
Gruden just came in and coached, didn't change schemes or personnel, he won
with Dungy's team. Overall this was an awesome game and I'm glad I decided
to watch it.

Next week I will do my Super Bowl picks and blabber about that. Oh yeah I
heard a great quote yesterday about To - "Terrell Owens is like an oil
spill, he kills everything around him and it takes years to recover from" -
Colin Cowherd. And with that I'm out!
