2006: Divisional Playoffs

Well everyone the final four is set and my bolts decided not to
participate in the event but more on that later. It's kind of hard to
write this column when your team is no longer playing but I will suck it
up and proceed. A recap of the divisional games.

Indianapolis Colts 15 Baltimore Ravens 6

This game did not surprise me at all. I knew it would be a low scoring
game but I thought Baltimore might pull it out. Manning had another
sub-par game but his defense once again stepped up and shut down the
opposition. Putting that into perspective they weren't playing the
greatest show on turf out there but still shut down McNair. Vinatieri
might be the best signing in a long time cause he is clutch and won that
game for the Colts. Kind of a boring game is you're not a Colts or
Ravens fan but it's still an upset. Good job Indy.

New Orleans Saints 27 Philadelphia Eagles 24

Man this was an exciting game. It started out on point when Bush got
freaking destroyed in the flat on the first play of the game. As soon
as I saw that I knew it was going to be a great physical contest. Brees
played a great game and Deuce ran right over the Philly defense. The
NFL's comeback franchise of this year is still in it and are playing
great football right now.

Chicago Bears 27 Seattle Seahawks 24

Another great game. Went into overtime and the Bears won on a Gould FG.
Man I thought Seattle was actually going to win this game when they
picked off Grossman but then Matt gives the ball right back to them
throwing to no one. Oh well given the Hawks roster, injuries, and being
on the road I thought they put up a hell of a fight and almost came up
with a win. Rex-Kwon-do actually didn't play like an ass-hole and the
Bears obviously looked a lot better with him playing within the system.
Great game.

New England Patriots 24 San Diego Chargers 21

Oh where to go on this one. First off I honestly think this is more of
the Bolts losing this than the Pats winning this one. Not to take
anything away from the Pats cause Brady worked his magic again but we
picked him off 3 times and owned them for 3 quarters. Here are the
reasons why we lost 1) Second series of the game a pass is tipped and
Clinton Hart can't catch it with no one even near him. 2)Eric Parker
and Vincent Jackson (from Colo Spgs) can't catch wide open 8 yard passes
in the flat all of a sudden. 3) After sacking TB on 3rd down in the 3rd
quarter Drayton Florence head butts their TE right in front of the line
judge getting a personal foul and giving them the ball back. 4) Marlon
Mcree intercepts a fourth down pass and then gets stripped with 6
minutes to go giving them the ball back. Those four cost us the game,
notice I didn't say it was Dillon running all over us or Brady throwing
all over us, we beat ourselves which I think hurts even more. I guess
I'll have to wait another year.

Now for the Championship games.

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears

Man this is a good match up. The Saints have a great offense and the
Bears obviously have a good defense. I really think the difference here
will be Deuce, if the Bears have a weakness on defense it's running at
them up the middle and that's exactly what Deuce does. The Bears
offense isn't that explosive and if you don't let Berriman get behind
you you can contain them. This should be a great battle and the
conditions of Soldier Field will also play into how the game is played.
I'm going to take the Saints 28 Bears 17. Notice I was 1-3 last week so
take it for what it is.

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts

Man this is going to be another great game. The Pats seem to own the
Colts but things need to change sooner or later don't they? The Colts
are at home on the turf and the Colts defense has been playing insane
after being the Achilles heel for much of the season. But still history
says that the Pats have been here before and know how to prevail on the
road. I think this is the year things change though and I'm taking Indy
38 Pats 31. It's time for Manning to finally get to a Super Bowl.

This should be a good week for football. I have a keg of Blue Moon
chilling and am going to buy some wings and enjoy even though I'm pissed
