This is a very good friend of a friend of mine, please pray for all her friends & family.  It's weird because Fabi and I were just talking about her last night.  Awful.  Just fucking stupid.  Who the hell is that starved for money that he kills a woman to steal her jewelry?  That's just fucking demented.

Weekend = good.  Friday we went to Coco & Juan's place for dinner, Saturday we hit the bikes, lounged, and went to Old C's for a short while.  Yesterday I did homework (literally) from 9:30am - 10:30pm ... about 1/2 done with what I need to do tonight, hopefully I can just go balls-to-the-wall and get done by 2 or 3 am tonight and be done with it until after Labor Day.

Ok, I am beyond worn out right now.  I don't think I've gone to bed before midnight for like, 87 days straight or something.  Either that or I'm just so brain-fried that I can no longer function correctly.  Last night I was in a marketing study downtown, then Fabi and I went out to eat since we were already downtown, then I was up until 2ish doing homework.  Tonight I have a going-away party for a co-worker then we're going to a dinner party.  Tomorrow we ride bikes somewhere, either Vail or here in Golden.  Saturday night Bridget has her housewarming party.  Sunday I have to do homework literally all day, probably 12-14 hours of the shit. 9 more days until I get a 2 month break from school ... wow, I cannot wait for that to get here!!

My entire family will be here next week, pretty excited for that! Mom, Dad, and Cori all get here Tuesday, I think Brent gets here on Wednesday.  I have a ton of shit to get done at work today too, quite busy.  I can't get this fucking OLAP-type product to work on our website, it's driving me up the fucking wall.

Schmirgan-Flagen called me last night, we're going to plan a 7-9 day venture next summer where we will just hammer out the 14ers, try to climb 10 or so of them in a week's time.  How fucking awesome would that be?  I mean wow, we could hammer out Eulos, N. Eulos, Windom, Sunlight, Sunshine, Redcloud, Uncompaghre, Mt. Wilson, Wilson Peak, El Diente Peak ... holy shit would that be cool or what?   Or if we wanted to switch it up we could do half of those, then swing over Aspen's way and climb Capitol, the Maroon Bells, Snowmass, Pyramid, etc.  Wow ... I can't even express how much I think this idea rocks ... it is beyond awesome ... it is the essence of why I love Colorado.

Have a great weekend ... although I'm close to hospitalization from exhaustion, I couldn't be in a better mood right now!!!

June 21, 2007

It is very hot these days, supposed to be in the mid-to-high 90's all week.  This is how I like it, I want to be sweating bullets as I drive with my windows down.  I'm not joking.

I was at work until 7ish last night.  That's not entirely true, but it is.  I worked until 6ish then had an online class for the next hour.  My online class was fucking awesome.  It's the kind of thing that used to bore me, but I loved it.  I think I should take the rest of my classes in a classroom setting instead of online, it was very interesting last night.  We discussed the layers of the Oracle SGA ... the different memory allocations and background processes and the dataflows between then in an Oracle instance's startup.  I can't express how much I learned in just one hour.  Good stuff.

So yeah, went home after that and went on a walk with Fabi, then it was time to study until I couldn't keep my eyes open any more. 10 more days of school until I'm done for two months  ... but I've got a lot to do yet.  Have about half of my last assignment left, have to complete my entire course project, and have a final exam as well.  Yeah, I'm quite busy.

Stem cell research ... I've said it many times before, it's the #1 item most important to me.  anti-war, immigration, pro-education, anti capital punishment, pro-choice stance ... these things are all important to me.  But if a somebody in politics won't vote for stem cell research, nothing else matters.  Of course dipshit fuckhead vetos all bills that would make it possible ... or the bills that would get us out of Iraq.  I'm convinced he is my polar opposite.

I know I promised I wouldn't rant and rave about this any more, but holy shit, give me one second here:

George Bush, you are a fucking worthless nutsack of a human being.  You should be impeached for refusing to separate church & state.  You are seriously just fucking worthless if you can't pass a bill like this.  I hope somebody runs over your dog with a car today.  Twice.

Went downtown last night during the Rockies' routing of the Spankees, didn't go to the game though, just sat on the rooftops.  Today I am tired, my streak of sleepless nights continues ... doesn't help that my allergies are ridiculous these days, I am quite the restless sleeper as of late.

So much homework to do, wow.  I have an online class tonight at 6pm that should last an hour or so, then some homework for the next several nights.  Have dinner plans on Friday night, biking plans on Saturday-day, housewarming party Saturday night, and wow ... what to do Sunday?  I going to wear myself out this summer and I absolutely love it!! :)

Trip report and pictures are posted from the Mt. Antero climb.  A few other pictures are up as well in the May and June books.

Climbed a 14er (Mt. Antero) on Saturday.  Went to Nick & Lissa's place on Saturday to see Chris & Beth.  Did homework on Sunday.  Fabi got back Sunday night.  Golfed Fossil Trace yesterday (poorly).  Went and watched Pulp Fiction at Red Rocks last night.  Probably going downtown tonight for the Rockies/Spankees game.  I have a ton of homework to do, I am falling behind.  Friday night I slept for 5 hours (10pm - 3am).  Saturday night I slept for 3 hours (3:30am - 6:30am).  Sunday night I slept for 5 hours (12:30 - 5:30).  Monday night I slept for 6 hours (1am - 7am).  I am tired.

Laetitia is back up to the 28-29mpg area ... she's aging like fine wine at 223K miles old.

I will have pictures, trip report from Antero, and a few other things up later this week ... but I'm quite busy, and tired.  *Yawn*

June 15, 2007

Got a wonderful weekend lined up here, unfortunately Fabi is still gone so I'll be riding solo for this one.  Tonight I'm going to bed early as I leave at 5am tomorrow morning to go climb Mt. Antero, which will be my 21st 14er and the official kickoff to the 2007 climbing season for me.  I have a goal of climbing 7 peaks this summer, which will place me at the halfway mark of completing a lifelong goal.  We will see, we will see.

Saturday night I'm going over to Nick & Lissa's place to meet up with them and Chris & Beth for the night.  It'll kick ass to see them, haven't seen any of them for a long time!

Sunday will be homework, humph.  I'm a little bitter, I got my first-ever B on an assignment yesterday.  This puts the 4.0 in jeopardy, I need to work on that.  We'll see what happens.

Have a great weekend!

If you ever get the chance, watch Shark Attack 3: Megalodon.  It's beyond awesome.  Just check out this clip.  Or this one.  You will not regret the 2 minutes spent watching those clips. I'm telling you, you will have a hard time getting me to ever laugh that hard ... ever.  What a spectacular piece of cinema.  I think I may shock some people in saying this:  I think it's better than Snakes on a Plane.  There, I said it.

Ok, that's all for today, I'm incredibly busy, falling behind in school to ... I need to hop to it tonight.  Yup yup.

Biked up the highest automobile road in North America yesterday.  Got about 4000+ feet of vertical gain over about 14.5 miles on the way up.  It burned once we got to the top.  The way down was fucking cold ... I mean incredibly numb-your-entire-body cold.  I don't recommend going down the 14th highest mountain in Colorado on a bike at 37mph in shorts when it's windy and show is still present.  However, I do recommend going up ... it was a consistent ride that I could handle until the end, I wanted to stop and rest with about 1 mile to go but Fabi motivated me to go to the top without breaking.  Felt pretty damn good!  Pictures are up.

I was on the news last night at 10:00, they interviewed me after we got down from Evans, pretty cool.  I taped it on my (primitive) VCR, but cannot find a link on the News 4 site.

Now that I've gone up to Mt. Evans' summit by foot ... by bike ... and by car ... I'd really like to go up there by all 3 in one day.  Someday, oh someday.

Fabi left this morning for a week, she's out to the Grand Canyon and such.  I've got a busy week of homework and other random things (apartment hunting, homework, regular shopping, etc.).  I may go and solo-climb Mt. Antero on Saturday, I really need to get a 14er done ASAP.  Also, Chris & Beth are here all week, so I'll meet up with them maybe during the week and hopefully 100% for sure this weekend.

Only Wednesday?  I had a conference with my teacher yesterday, doing great, getting some special treatment with the final exam, pleased am I.  Ran last night.  Lifted last night.  Used Arc machine last night.  Good night.  Busy at work today, run over lunch, yadda yadda yadda.

Are all the 14ers really still snow-covered?  This is ridiculous. Melt, dammit, melt!

I have finished my 2nd of 3 assignments for my database class, one more assignment, one course project, and one final exam to go ... let's get it done, 3 1/2 more weeks until a 2 month school break!

Stressin' about money.  I wish I didn't like my job so much so I'd go find one that'd pay me $20K more a year and I could relax, but I really like my job more than you could imagine.  Happiness over money any day of the week ... but I tell you what, I'm going to die at age 40 if the money stress that has existed since, uhm, (when did I leave Iowa, again? 6 years ago?!) doesn't go away soon.  The FJ Cruiser will be remaining a dream for at least 3-4 more years at this pace.  A house couldn't be further from my mind.  But guess who hikes, snowboards, and travels more than anybody he knows?  That's right - I do.  I think those things can demolish my stress ... if only I could afford the gas to get there.  Stressin'.

The only way I could be happy right now is if I were at home in bed.  I am sofa king tired, it's quite ridiculous.  I think we're going out for Towns' birthday tonight, haven't really discussed plans for the rest of the weekend, though.  We will see, we will see.  I crave greasy food.  Yes, greasy food ... mmmmmmm.

I've really got to get to work, it's proving insanely difficult to concentrate today. Here's a few "Jacob-style" Bolder Boulder stats for you.  I finished ...

2540 / 43571 - top 6% of all Denverites who choose to run in 10K races
96 / 1153 - people age 28 - top 8%
77 / 486 - men aged 28 - top 16%
19 / 667 - females aged 28 - top 3%, should have been a girl!
13 / 66 - all people named "Bryan" - top 17%, apparently Bryans are fast
1 / 3 - all people surnamed "mack" ... that's right, I won!!

Yeah, I'm happy.  The best part is, after this year, I'm positive I can run much faster ... much faster.  Look for me to shatter my record next year.  You can quote me on that.
