My Grandma Mack passed away early this morning. Please keep her and my family in your thoughts & prayers. Obviously, the below list of my plans has changed dramatically

I'm officialy a "Legend of Iowa State" ... only 10 made the list, and I'm right up there with George Washington Carver and Dan Gable.  Giggidy!

So this may be the last update you'll get for awhile, so I'd better make it a good one.   Today is the my last day of work until April 6, how awesome is that?!  What's on my agenda for the next couple weeks?

Tonight:  Gov's Park
Saturday: Snowboarding then out with Jessica
Sunday: No plans, likely snowboarding
Monday:  100% positively snowboarding
Tuesday:  100% positively snowboarding
Wednesday:  Fly to Orlando with Jessica, check in at the Radisson, chill by the pools, watch Lost
Thursday:  Hit up Disney World
Friday:  Hit Up Disney World
Saturday: Switch to the Coronodo Springs Resort.  Hit up Universal Studios or Sea World
Sunday;  Hit up Universal Studios or Sea World
Monday:  Jess flies back to Denver, I stay in Orlando for my conference
Tuesday:  Conference
Wednesday: Conference & fly back to Denver

Yup!  Got some busy and good times ahead of me!  I'll try and update from the road, I'll have my Treo and a laptop with me, so assuming I get free wireless internet at one of the resorts, we shall be in touch.  Hell, I'll even post pictures for you so you can see what Jessica and I are up to.  I'm looking forward to the time off from work.  I've never been away from my job for that long before, should be cool as hell.

In other news, the Seahawks have added identity-theft protection to their team.   If you don't get that joke, I guess you just won't get it.

I put up pictures from the South Padre Island spring break trip we took in March of 2000, they are on the trips pix page along with the Florida spring break from 1999, enjoy!

I don't quite understand what's wrong with me.  Deftones are playing tomorrow night at the Filmore, and I'm not going.  I skipped the last 2 Chimaira shows.   Slayer and Lamb of God are coming here in a few months and I probably won't go.   What the hell is wrong with me?!

I'm going to write out a summer plan over my vacation detailing which 14ers I will climb this summer, I will share this with you after I get it arranged.  I'm very excited about 14er climbing this year for some reason.  And for some reason, my love of snowboarding has grown tenfold this year, perhaps it's because I thought I might not be able to do it as well when I broke my ankle, but now I'm getting good at rails and hopefully, after this vacation, will have 180's mastered and 360's partially mastered.   Nice like rice.

So what will I do when I get back?  Well, go to Vegas with the Tampa/Chicago guys in late April, then probably going to Kansas City in late May for a Royals/Cardinals game.   I am running a lot again, plan on doing another 1/2 marathon this summer, and hopefully a full one this year.  I have the Cherry Creek Sneak and Bolder Boulder coming up in the next few months, those are fun.  Going to try to squeeze in as much snowboard time as possible before this season ends.

Last and anti-least (meaning, most importantly) ... please remember to pray for my Grandma Mack, she could use your prayers.  Until next time, adios todos.

I still feel terrible.  Wasn't feeling good at all last night so I went home from work and went straight to couch.  Then I decided I should read, so I read for awhile, then went to bed around 9.  It's been getting easier and easier for me to get out of bed early, so I got up at 5:30 with intentions of going to the gym, then I decided that going to the gym isn't going to make me feel any better and I needed rest, so I just read for awhile.  Now here I sit, still sick.  I really need to get over this before vacation.

I'm in a weird mood today ... don't feel like sharing anything with you.

Steve Hutchinson, where do we start this discussion.  I have several thoughts on this, which all end in me giving a big middle finger to both Hutch and the Vikings.

1) Seattle messed up by using the transition tag instead of the franchise tag.  That is our fault
2) Hutch's agent said, "I think that there wasn't any reason for him to leave Seattle."  http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9324125/1.   Well, Jackass, apparently there was a reason - because you had him sign this ENORMOUS contract that would have been ridiculous for us to match.  HE'S A GUARD!!
3) If Steve-O wanted the money, just ask the 'Hawks for it.  Don't go signing a contract that's going to f**k us over while saying you want to stay in Seattle. If you want to leave, just go, but don't go saying you want to stay and then do this to us.   Jackass.
4) We now have an extra $6.3 million in cap space, which leaves us $20+ million left to spend.  I think we can get a pretty good guard for that.
5) To the Vikings ... FUCK YOU .. that was the most ridiculous clause I've ever heard of in a contract (if you aren't the highest paid lineman on the team in year 1 of the contract all $49 million is guaranteed).  Legal?  Yes.  But that's a dirty dirty trick.  T.O. does stuff on the field legally too, and I hate him as well.   It's called "class" ... get some.  Your team has just entered my list of teams I hate because they play dirty.
6) We have Hasselbeck, Jones, and Alexander back for at least 6 seasons.   That's a strong core of classy and VERY talented men, not to mention our huge amount of cap space.

So we signed Julian Peterson (LB) today, that's a nice pickup.  We need to focus on re-signing Mack Strong, getting a good cornerback or two, John Abraham, and hopefully a new guard and safety (in case Hamlin isn't healthy) and we will be a much better team than last year.  I like the way this team is going, they're definitely moving in the right direction and I strongly approve of them not matching the Vikings offer to Hutch.

Quick true story from Friday night.  I'm not into St. Paddy's day but still wanted to have a "kick off the weekend" beer or two, so Colby and I head into Old C's.   I've never cheated on a girl I've dated, but I was tempted.  I look across the room and say, out loud (Colby can vouch for me), "Holy shit that chick is absolutely gorgeous, wow!!"  My jaw dropped, I was amazed.  3 seconds later I realized it was Jessica.  Now that my friends, is when you know you truly think your girlfriend is a 10.  I didn't know if this was going to generate a good or bad reaction from Jess, but I told her anyways -- the reaction was good.

That being said, I still feel like shit today.  My voice is shot.  And quite frankly, I can't wait to see tomorrow's episodes of Lost and South Park.   Hopefully you're feeling better than me today, take 'er easy ... and if she's real easy, take 'er twice.

It's snowing out, and I'm at work.  I want to be on my board.

To quote Cameron Fry, "I feel like complete shit, Ferris."  That's me today, hell, that was me all weekend.  I feel like I was run over by a dump truck.   I still went snowboarding on Saturday, then went to bed (er, couch) very early that night.  Yesterday I was productive but felt horrible, today I feel worse.  Aja was in town and I still didn't go out.  Not sure why I'm at work.

I have to work this week then I'm basically off work for 2 weeks, but havea lot to do.   Oh, I put up some old pictures on Friday, Spring Break 1999 - Florida Trip Pictures are available for your viewing pleasure on the Trips Pix page (March 1999) ... enjoy.   Other than that, I've got nothing for you, so I'll just post yesterday's Doonesbury

I'm Catholic and Irish.  If you're one or the other, you have every right to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form.  If you're neither, what exactly are you celebrating?  Go ahead and celebrate our holiday, but please educate yourself on what it is before you go wear green and drink Guiness, because that's not what it's all about.   How many of you know that St. Patrick was a slave for 6 years?  Do you know anything about him?  Do you know he's not a native of Ireland, yet he is the patron saint of Ireland.  Do you think St. Patrick's day is just a day to go drink green beer?  If so, I pity you.  Anyways, happy St. Patrick's Day to all who are celebrating.

Grandma's surgery ... hmmmm.  We don't have an actual prognosis yet, but it appears that the main tumor has gone through the wall of her bladder.  Now I'm no doctor, and I have very limited information, but that doesn't sound like a good thing at all.  She has a very long recovery time ahead of her regardless of the prognosis, so please continue to keep her in your thoughts & prayers, I'll be forever in debt to you.

I was trying to keep my mind off it (Grandma) all night as it is very difficult for me to think & talk about, and let's just say that a bunch of unnecessary bullshit didn't make it any easier for me to cope with it last night.  There's just some things I really don't have time to worry about when much more important things are happening in my life.

Can you tell I'm in a horrible mood today?  Hopefully some snowboarding will clear my mind, because it's been filled to capacity for a couple weeks now.  I did get a personal message sent to my MySpace account from  Jim Root last night, so that was pretty cool to be in one-on-one interaction with him.  Have a good weekend.

Grandma is in surgery this very second, please keep her in your thoughts & prayers.   It's a very serious surgery and I need to get my mind off it, so let's change the subject to some lighter things ...

I hate the E-Harmony guy from the commercials.  He's such a flaming, happy guy for no reason.  He's trying to turn meeting and dating into this science in which only his "$50 value" (Side note: as I was typing this I had to turn off 'BPI as that fucking Disturbed song came on AGAIN, had 'BPI on for a total of 3 minutes today, back to XM) compatibility test can create love.  Man I hate the E-Harmony guy.

I got an AWESOME voice mail from Riki the other day, I need to share it with you, we'll just do it in this format:
This is Bryan, leave me a message .... BEEP!

Hey Bryan, it's Riki.  I was calling to see if you've talked to Aja in the last few days.  I don't know if you have her number or not so I'll get it out of my phone here and get it to you.  *clunk* (phone dropped ... 10 second pause) ..... Hello?!    (pause)  Are you there?    (long pause)     Hello?   (I'm now laughing my ass off while listening to the message, and then I hear Ian in the background talking to Riki:  "Are you asking if he's still there and you're leaving him a voice mail?)    oh, shit.   *hangs up*

Classic.

I'm leaving work early today to go watch the NCAA Tournament.  I don't care for b-ball that much, but this sounds like a great idea... especially since I can't go to opening day baseball this year.  I'm a little pissed that Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock are both foregoing their senior year to go to the NBA, but what can a guy do?

Last Thursday I ran up to CB & Potts to meet up with Tim for a quick minute.   There was an M.C. doing trivia, and he was announcing the scores of the teams.   When he announced, "In second place is Kirby Puckett's Last Pork Chop", I have to admit, I laughed harder than I have in a year. (besides for when watching Arrested Development or Family Guy)

Jessica and I ate at Red Lobster on Friday night, I had this coconut shrimp with some malibu-rum dipping sauce.  Holy shit, that dipping sauce was one of the best things I've tasted in my life.  I highly recommend it.   After eating at R-Lob we went and met up with Katie and Jason at Old C's for awhile.

I finished season 1 of 24 last night.  While contemplating my thoughts on the show, I realized something quite interesting.  Until about 5 years ago, I pretty much enjoyed everything in the world of televised entertainment that didn't involve Robin Williams or Julia Roberts.  Recently, however, I am not so easily pleased.  I think this goes with everything in my life.  I'm no longer impressed by famous people, athletes, musicians, or mediocre television shows and/or movies.  When I decided to watch 24, I had heard so many fantastic things about it, I figured it'd be amazing.  Instead it was this ridiculous show that couldn't be more far-fetched.  I can't deny that Keifer Sutherland is a great actor.  When it comes to the writing of the show, ridiculous.  So many unanswered questions.   People tell me these questions will be answered in future seasons.  My retort:   Why is it called 24 if it takes more than 24 hours/episodes to tell the story?

Also regarding 24, I was getting sick of people telling me Elisha Cuthbert is hot.  I've now seen her in Old School and 24.  I decided to give her a 3rd chance, so late night last night I popped in The Girl Next Door.  Ladies and gentlemen, I must ask what in the hell you are thinking.  If she walked down the street, the only way I'd look twice at her is if she was to be wearing a Chimaira shirt.   She's not a terrible actress, she's just an (at best) average looking girl.

Grade for the series 24:  B-
Grade for Elisha Cuthbert's hotness:  D-

In other news, the fucking Vikings went ahead and offered Steve Hutchinson $7 million a year.  I hate the Vikings as Daunte Culpepper and his "rollin'" celebration drive me nucking futs, but this isn't there fault.  Why did the 'Hawks use the transition tag on him instead of the franchise tag?  This would have saved us cap space in the long run.  Dumb.

Please continue to pray for my Grandma.

All I can say is the last few days have been very strange, we'll leave it at that.   Lots of things on my mind, and I don't know what to make of them.  Ideas are entering my head, and I don't know if I hate them or love them.  Ever have that happen?

Note to everyone, because I'm sick of hearing about how funny this is.  That SNL skit where Chris Parnell raps .... IS NOT FUNNY, I didn't even crack a smile, and now we're getting people (some who wrote Bill Simmons) comparing it to the Cowbell?!   Insane.

Also on that note .... for the love of God, please somebody do something about this damn Disturbed song.  It's been about 8 months now that I can't even listen to KBPI.  My thing is, I'll listen to it until I hear that song.  My alarm clock, I have to shut it off by 7am.  On the drive to work I make it about 2 miles.   At the gym over lunch, EVERY DAY it comes on (and it's supposed to be "Flush Your Lunch" where they switch the songs up over lunch hour, yet it's the exact same every day), and on the drive home from work, I hear it as well.  It's fucking ridiculous.  Even if it was a song I liked (my Lord, you won't believe this, but as I was typing this it just came on) ... I'd be sick of it.  That song, solely that song, has got me into a hardcore XM convert.  Looks like I'm back to Opie & Anthony for the rest of the day.

We went from 70 degrees back to snow in less than 24 hours.  I know I've been here well over 4 1/2 years, but this still shocks me every time.

March is here, should be a good month.  I get a vacation, great snowboarding, an ISU basketball game, and all sorts of other fun this month.  March is my favorite month of the year.

Lent starts today, what are you giving up?  I'm keeping mine a secret to the world, no reason why.  No gym for me today, had a veggie Chipotle for lunch, and get church & Lost tonight.  That's about it for today as I ain't got much to say.

If anyone reads Achewood regularly, make sure that you didn't miss Monday's comic.  I forgot to put that in the news on Monday, but it was hilarious. (you may have to be following the current story line for it to be funny).
