What I am listening to as I type this:  Slipknot - Confessions

January 31, 2005

Had a great, great weekend.....low key, lots of production, cheaper than normal, etc.  Nice, now it's payday...and I've pretty much spent my whole check already, imagine that :)  I'm pretty good at having my entire check sent away to billpayers by 10am of payday.  Funny how that works.

Bandwidth is used up for this month, I'm going to get fined by my web host I bet...but yeah, we hit 57,000 unique visitors this month, an average of 1848 per day...stuff like that.  Good month, 2005 is off to a jump start.  My new version of the forums will be up shortly.  I don't think I'm going to "re-launch" the site all together any more, I will just do it one piece at a time.  Already got the Guestbook up to the new version, that went smoothly and now I'm hackproof.  The forums are actually up in version 2.0, but I haven't posted the link yet as I'm not done with everything, should be ready shortly.  New format of the style and browsing won't be ready until July.  Music pages will be posted and completed by then, as well as the new "girls of fleetmack.com" page (no, it's not girls from next door -- it's my imaginary girlfriends, ie tara, brooke, krista, laetitia, etc.)

Anyways, more tomorrow when my bandwidth resets, adios todos....oh, I have 2 tickets to the Slipknot show on April 20th, just thought I'd fill you in on that.

What I am listening to as I type this:  Slayer - Hallowed Point

January 28, 2005

T-minus 2 hours and 13 minutes until Slipknot tickets go on sale.   I'm liking that they're playing larger venues this time around.  I'm buying tickets today at the Magness Arena (DU Hockey (2004 NCAA Champs) arena) .... then have a decision to make:
Ames, Iowa at Hilton on Saturday, April 23 (VERY likely)
Council Bluffs, Iowa at Mid-America Center on Friday, April 29

I'm thinking the Ames show because plane tickets to Iowa for either trip are about $350, so looks like I'll be driving back....and that means a Saturday show fits much better.  Man I can't wait - 2 Slipknot shows in a week!! Wow!!  Hopefully those won't be the last 2 times I get to see them.  5 Slipknot shows in a liftetime just isn't enough.  I was hoping to catch them 3 times on this tour, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to, two will have to suffice.

I posted Random Thoughts V yesterday, personally I think it's horrible but I actually got a few emails about it yesterday -- kinda shocked me.  I had a few pix to scan and post -- good ones too!   But I forgot them at home, so wait until next week.

Leaving for the mountains after work today, go riding tomorrow, not sure where though, then back to Westminster for the rest of the weekend.....time to help out with moving, always fun :o)  That's all for now, have a great and safe weekend!

What I am listening to as I type this:  Huey Lewis and the News - Stuck With You

January 27, 2005

I'm dont' feel like doing the news, but I'll put up something new for you today.  This is the biggest piece of garbage I've ever written, I can't believe I'm going to post it.  Random Thoughts V

What I am listening to as I type this:  George Strait - Am I Blue

January 26, 2005

Is it really Wednesday already?  I did some interval running, lifting, eating, and laundry last night - exciting stuff huh?  I think I'm going to skip the X-Games this weekend, but go riding instead.  Perhaps go up Friday night then ride on Saturday then I'm coming back here Saturday night....I'm busy.

What I am listening to as I type this:  Garth Brooks - Same Old Story

January 25, 2005

Whassup, I'm almost over my bandwidth for the month, this is the most popular month in the history of fleetmack since that glorious month of October 2002 when I got a quarter-million visitors due to my Maddox link. (see the bottom of the page).  Anyways, all downloads (movies, MP3's, etc.) are disabled until February 1...I will leave photos up unless I go over....we'll see.

Off to a kick-start of a week so far, got a ton done at work, got a ton done in the gym, eating healthy so far....giddy up.  The forums got a ton of visits last night, not sure why but I checked the logs and it all checks out...just register already fuckers.  I don't feel like this today, sorry for nothing new, but if I go over my bandwidth it costs me more $$ and I already pay like $18/month for this damn site so deal with it unless you want to help me pay for it.

OH - by the way, Bushwick Bill returns today with the release of the new Geto Boys album....let's hope one of the best rappers out there doesn't disappoint.

What I am listening to as I type this:  Slipknot - The Blister Exists

January 24, 2005

Well that weekend is over....really busy so I'll just let pictures tell the story.

I updated my diet suggestions on how to get in shape.  Check it out on the My Mind page...i posted it initially around 6-13-03

R.I.P. to Iowa's own Johnny Carson....who happens to be from the same small town my grandparents live in.

And since hits have about tripled this month (48K unique visitors so far this month as opposed for a typical 20K each month) I recommend some of you register in the forums and start posting, they've grown quite bland, rejuvinate them!

What I am listening to as I type this:  Deftones - Birthmark

January 20, 2005

I have almonds stuck everywhere in my teeth right now, but that's ..... ok.  because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and dog-gone-it, people like me.

Is it already January 20th?!  I'm going to the Colorado Mammoth game on Saturday, that'll be sweeeeeeeeeeeet.  And yes, it'll sell out.  That's right -- they use the same arena as the Nuggets...but sell out.  Funny how Lacrosse is more popular than basketball here.  Basketball sucks.  I love Denver.....

We hit the mid-60's yesterday, supposed to hit 70 degrees today....and yes, there's a ton of snow in the best snowboarding in the country just 70 miles from here.  I love Denver.  It's where the beer flows like wine and the women flock like the salmon of Capistrano....ok, that's Aspen...but it is someplace warm.  The sad thing is -- this is normal for this time of year....the other sad thing is, this is my 4th winter here and I still can't believe how f**king warm it is here!! Woooooooooo!!!

What I am listening to as I type this:  Eric Clapton - Running on Faith (unplugged)

January 19, 2005

I learned all about moonroofs last night -- how to wire and hook them up and where the motor is and how to disable it and install it, etc.  It's working fine now, but I've disconnected it for the winter so I don't have to worry if I fixed it properly or not....it sucks when it's stuck open in the winter for 2 days!  I love playing with my car and learning how to fix it and get at the guts, I never knew shit about cars....I could do that for a living, love it.  Same with flying airplanes - I'd love that, maybe I should get a pilots license, fly planes during the week and outsource and fix people's cars on weekend.  Give me 10 years and we'll see.  That'd be awesome.

The coolest thing about being a single guy who has no car payment, house payment, CD's, or any interest-bearing accounts (besides 403B and Roth IRA).....is that it took me all of 5 minutes to do my federal and state taxes last night.  Man that ruled.  Seriously, it took longer to address and stamp the envelopes than to do my taxes.  I get $115 back this year....no thanks to the Gov't...I was sick of paying in so last year I changed my forms at work to take like $10 more out of each paycheck than what they already do so I wouldn't have to pay in.  Bastards.

You know what I haven't had in awhile?  Big League Chew.   Ok...I admit, I stole that from Family Guy.  And that's pronounced "guy" ... as in "my g.i. joe guys" or "guys night out"....not like "Guy" from MXC on the Nitro Channel.  That's pronounced Gee -- like Carla's second husband's real name on Cheers.  Just thought I'd share that with you.

Wow, where did that paragraph come from?  Back to work - new pic of the day is up.  And I'm in the process of getting the forums to a new version and skin -- look for that in a few weeks. Have a good burrito day -- go find your burrito soulmate.

Happy Tuesday!  I love holiday weeks.....had a great weekend too...yup yup.

New pix are up on the AZ trip page...they're professional running photos from the 1/2 marathon of Nic, Lloyd, and myself...they're pretty sweet.

New MP3 is up as well...I'm busy today....

What I am listening to as I type this:  Beck - Lazy Flies

January 14, 2005

Very busy.  The website was hacked.  I restored it...fuckers.  I am in the process of updating the forums, they'll be done next week with a new skin and more secure, I'm pretty sure that's how my site got hacked was through that damn phpbb security leak...damn.

Heading out to Silverthorn after work, will ride tomorrow at Beaver Creek then come back for Bob's b-day, then back up on Sunday to Vail for a riding day then ride Monday morning at Keystone then back to Denver Monday night....giggidy.

Oh - don't call me until after 8 my time, I'm out of minutes.  I'm going to switch this weekend to either a new Sprint plan or away from Sprint - depends on what I can weasel out of them for free...

To close, this is an award given by Bill Simmons annually -- in his newest column, looks like we're a repeat.  And by "saddest" he means "most upset":

Saddest group of fans: Seahawks fans
You have to feel for them. Even as Vanilli was running down the sidelines with that game-winning overtime TD, I was thinking of my poor friend KJ, a die-hard Seattle fan and author of the upcoming book, "If We Killed Jim McIlvaine, Would That Get Him off The Cap?" Imagine rooting for the Seahawks for the past 20 years? Has there been a more nondescript franchise in any sport?

(Whoops, that's what I wrote last season after the crushing Packers game. Since then, we've had two more agonizing regular season losses for Seattle, plus a playoff defeat where their receiver dropped a game-tying TD on the final play. Not only have the Seahawks failed to win a playoff game in 20 years, they have lost three of their last five playoff games on the final play. Personally, I think the franchise should embrace their fan's pain and just start playing The Cure and The Smiths during home games.)

January 13, 2005

Damn, really thought ISU was going to beat Kansas last night, whatever.  I really don't care.  I think I'm going to stop cheering for the NFL and NCAA Football and the NHL and MLB --- my teams all suck and never do anything.  Instead I'm going to focus on Colorado Mammoth Lacrosse.  I see the rest of the world is finally catching up to the times and discovering the NBA is a big joke...time for something better.  The Seahawks are out until August, the Royals suck, Iowa State is OK but I get to watch like 2 games a year, the Avs...well, hockey - whatever, and I just don't care 2 shits about the NBA to even watch it, I honestly have no idea what teams are good and what ones are bad.  I was under the impression that the Nuggets were pretty good, but they said on the radio this morning that they suck.  So yeah, no clue.

I'm rambling today because I haven't anything to say.  I'm just sitting here waiting for the new dates of the Slipknot tour to be announced so I can go to town in the ticket buying department.

When you're crossing the street, and although the car has the right-away, and they wave you to go ahead - isn't it just common courtesy to jog across the street instead of walking slowly?  And on that same note - what's the deal with idiots in the supermarket parking lot who walk in the middle of the aisle of cars instead of the side.  And how lazy are the people who can't even bring their grocery carts back inside?  I mean, shit - even if you're too lazy to do that -- you still can't bring it to one of the cart-return-thingamajobbies they put in the parking lot for you?!   lazy bastards.  Just to prove how lazy you are, I'm going to run 4 miles over lunch today even though my legs are still a bit sore.  Bet you don't even do that in a week and I'm doing that over one lunch break during the week.

Yes, I'm bitter today, no - I don't have a reason.  It's still snowing in the mountains - look.

January 12, 2005

Last night was uneventful yet productive, I think that's all I need to say to describe that...the hair is cut, I am unpacked, the laundry process has begun, thank-you letters are finally written, and I had a solid work-out day.  On top of that, I braved the snow this morning and got up and made some eggs and stuff before work and went to the gym before work, we'll have a burrito for lunch and head back to the gym after work.  The legs are feeling a bit better, I tried to run a mile yesterday....didn't make it, the legs hurt pretty bad.  I'm going to take today off from running and try to run 3 or 4 miles tomorrow on top of lifting - I really need to re-adjust to running at this altitude, 3 out of 4 of my 8+ mile runs in the last month have been in Iowa or Phoenix, so elevation hasn't been a factor other than that one 8 mile run I did in Westminster the week before Christmas.  Yup yup....enough about that.  Phoenix trip pictures are posted along with a couple movies.  Tonight I hit up the gym for awhile, head to get my glasses adjusted, buy a few groceries, and then some other stuff :o)  This weekend will likely involve Vail or Beaver Creek...  WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Why do people still write checks at grocery stores? And furthermore - why am I always behind these people?

When someone sends me an email, why do they send it to my @fleetmack.com mail, @gmail.com, and @mines.edu mail??  That's just annoying as shit.  Just send it to one email address, I'll get it - I assure you.

New MP3 is finally up - and I have 0 (yes, zero) remaining Wil$on pix, so if you want more -- or more Wil$on stories - that's up to you.

January 11, 2005

Caught up on sleep last night, had delicious, delicious chicken noodle soup last night, wow.  So I'm awake, the quads are fine, but now my calves are a little sore - but I'm going to run over lunch anyways, then lift tonight, then cut my hair, then get my glasses adjusted, then do laundry and unpack, then go to bed early - that's my life.

Pictures are up for the Arizona/Half-Marathon/Birthday trip - a few videos are on there too....enjoy....you know where to find 'em.

January 10, 2005

....and we're back in Denver until I go to Georgia in March......  Had a really good trip, really good birthday (except that a waitress has a death warrant on her head for breaking my Seahawks beads), and a really good run yesterday.  The weather was rather shitty for Phoenix most of the time, Friday and Saturday was overcast and in the low 60's or so....but yesterday was beautiful for the run.  I had 2 goals for the 1/2 Marathon..... 1) finish 2) break 2 hours....  I was 80% sure I would finish, and about 50% sure I could finish without walking.  I was about 20% sure I could beat the 2 hour goal.  Well, I didn't stop running the whole time and I finished in one hour, fifty-eight minutes (1:58) - you can go check my scores and stats if you want...just go here:
http://www.azcentral.com/sports/azetc/rnraz05/rnrindex.html
My name is Bryan Mack in case you didn't know - you can search me from that page.  Make sure you change it to "Half Marathon".  Don't use the gun time - I was in corral 3 so I didn't cross the start line for awhile...I'm challenging that time, it's about 40 seconds off by my calculations.  With simple subtraction, you should be able to calculate that I beat my goal by two minutes.

So today I woke up at 3:00am, showered, got dressed, packed, we drove the rental car back to somewhere, got on a shuttle, got on a plane, flew back to Denver, landed, got baggage, shuttle to my car, scrape ice off my car, pay for parking, drive an hour to work, here I am for the day.  Humph, I'm miserable and my legs hurt, luckily we have a keg of Advil in the break room, I've had three already.  No working out until tomorrow.  Tomorrow "Fleetmack Health Month" is kicked off.  What is "Fleetmack Health Month" you ask?  Nothing, I'm just going to run a lot, lift a lot, and eat healthy for one month.  Yup, pretty exciting huh?  Just figured you'd like to know.  I'm tired and have lots to do today, so I'm not updating anything else.  I have pictures and videos for you tomorrow most likely.....

Oh - Katie got in a bad car wreck the other day on her way to Denver and had a bunch of surgery as a result, please have your thoughts and prayers with her. (Click that link, can you tell I had influence on her web site's design? ;o) )

No update tomorrow as I am going to Phoenix tonight.  Meeting Nic at the airport here in Denver after work....then we meet up with Lloyd in Phoenix.  We're staying downtown until Saturday morning.  My 26th birthday is tomorrow, so likely we shall be hitting the town.  Saturday we meet up with Carrie, Amy, Donna, Erica, and other people whose names I know but don't have pictures of so I cannot post them :)  But for the record - it's Jason, Tim, Laura, Joanie, and I think Colleen?  We have a luxury house rented for the weekend, it's sweet.  Then I will cheer on my Seahawks to (hopefully) their first playoff victory in 20 years over Lloyd's Rams....man I hate the Rams.  Seriously, Bulger is awful -- he just has 2 of the top 5 best receivers in the NFL to throw to.  Tim Couch could even do that.....well, ok, I wouldn't go that far!

Balki Bartokomous is a funny name. I wonder if his middle name was "Jeff"?  that'd be a cool name.  Balki Jeff Bartokomous.  I really wish I could find Perfect Strangers in syndication someplace.  Oh how Balki and Cousin Larry made me laugh while working at the Chicago Chronicle.  Wow.  Think if he married someone with a funny last name, like Arnold Schwarzenegger's sister, Annie (I made her existence up)...she would hyphenate her last name.....  Annie Schwarzenegger-Bartokomous.  It'd be even funnier if her middle name was also Jeff.

Fleetmack.com turns 3 on Saturday - be sure to wish it a happy birthday....wish me luck on my run this weekend, have a great weekend, and please God...all I want for my birthday is a Seahawks win, that's it.  That's all I ask....please please please please please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO SEAHAWKS!!!  I will either be very happy or contemplating death around 6pm MST on Saturday.

What I am listening to as I type this:  Chris LeDoux - Cadillac Ranch

January 05, 2005

Do you people even realize that we have 4 players on the offensive Pro Bowl?  Steve Hutchinson, Walter Jones, Shaun Alexander, and Mack Strong.  The Rams only won one game not in a dome this year -- that was that fluke game in Seattle.  We're explosive.  We're going to win our first playoff game since 1984 on Saturday.

Burrito day already, it snowed last night - and it's f'in cold today....see above for exact temp.  Wish I could go riding this weekend, but instead I'm going to Phoenix.

Booked a 3+ Star hotel in downtown Phoenix for $50/night -- I love Priceline.com, way cool.  We have a swim-up bar and are walking distance to downtown bars I believe, but I don't know Phoenix worth a shit, so we'll see what happens.  I figured it's been about 2 weeks, time to go on another trip, right?  I leave tomorrow after work.

Please continue to pray for my friend's family.

Ebay cracks me up...

I upgraded to Firefox 1.0 from Firefox 0.9.1 -- I also added a temperature mod and a dictionary mod...add those to the tab and search features and no pop-ups and maximum security, and that brings me to one question that I've been asking for months now -- "Why on Earth would ANYBODY EVER use Internet Explorer?!"  Get with it, people.

Tonight I need to meet up with some friends downtown, head up to Superior Old C's for awhile, and pack for the trip.  Meet up with Nic at DIA tomorrow afternoon, oh man -- this is going to be a GREAT weekend...I can't wait, in fact, I'm just going to stop typing.

January 04, 2005

First off - please pray for my friend's family, they're going through a tough time.  I'd appreciate it.

Sorry for the late update, really busy today -- anyways, snow is on the way! Lot's of it, of course I can't go riding for another 11 days so it'll probably all be turned to ice by then, oh well - better than no snow, right?  Had a wonderful evening last night, tonight I get to run 10 miles, lifted weights today (lightly) for the first time in 3 weeks - it was tough....135x10, 185x10, 205x10, 225x7, 135x10 for my 5 bench sets - humph, I'm a slacker.  I want to run my 10 miles in 87 minutes tonight.  That's what I ran it in back in Iowa, but the air here sucks so we'll see if I even make it.  Then I'm going to cook Cajun salmon tonight, yup.

I'm motivated today, I want to cross a few things off my list before I get out of here for the day, but thought I'd take a 5 minute breather....adios todos.

What I am listening to as I type this:  Pantera - Revolution Is My Name

January 03, 2005

Happy New Year!  Cliché?  Yeah, I don't give a damn if we're in a new number or not - but I can honestly say that this has been the best start to a new year ever.  On top of all sorts of stuff we won't get into, the Seahawks are the NFC West Division Champions for the first time ever.  Fucking Rams, I HATE the Rams.  If they would have lost we would have seen Seneca Wallace in action.  Damn Rams.  Bring 'em on in the playoffs Saturday at 1:30 PST (I'll be in Phoenix so we're on Pacific time instead of Mountain time...I think....isn't Arizona weird like it doesn't change time zones or something?  Whatever.)  Pix from New Year's Eve are posted...you can look at them and just try to figure out for yourself what we did and who was with us....you can handle that, can't you?

I'm out to Phoenix on Thursday night for a nice weekend, hopefully I'll come home with one of my major lifelong goals accomplished (sorta) and with a Seahawks playoff victory.  I'll also be 26 upon my valiant return to the mile-high-city.

Tourists suck.  Don't visit Colorado, you  make my snowboarding experiences horrible you tools.  Sorry, that was my bitterness coming through since some little twerpy teenager who didn't know what he was doing made me topple down the mountain.....dammit.  That's it for today, MP3 is up....

oh...almost forgot -- if anyone has a P3 (PIII), Pentium III processor they want to sell me (866mhz or higher - slot 370)...let me know, otherwise I'm probably going to have to buy this one.....(or similar)
